Korean Jindo / Mix
While In the Air Force, I Spent A Year In Korea. I Am Sponsoring Murphy and Princess To Bring Attention To the Plight Of Animals There. And, To Honor All Military Members Serving In Korea! Thanks Donnarae Ford!
Jindo mix Murphy has made huge strides since he came to us from an unlicensed Korean Dog-Meat farm last Fall. His training team has worked diligently and, though he still has additional learning to do, we feel he is more than ready to find his permanent home. Murphy has become comfortable with petting and handling, and has begun mastering his basic obedience skills, but he still warms slowly to new people. This is one very active, intelligent young dog and must have guidance along with mental stimulation. His owner will need to have a quiet and predictable household routine, and be very experienced in working with shy dogs using positive reinforcement training techniques. His adoption will include a one hour private session with the Diamond Dog lead trainer to help facilitate the transition. Murphy loves the company of other dogs, and we feel it would be beneficial if his future home have a friendly & social resident canine buddy to mentor him as he learns how to live in the human world. Murphy enjoys the company of both male & female dogs, but he is a rough & tumble player, so would need a canine sibling that would be tolerant of his high-energy and enthusiasm. Human supervision with gentle guidance and redirection will initially be necessary as he perfects his polite play skills. A fenced yard area for him to run around and burn up energy in would be ideal. He has shown an interest in, but no obsession with, cats, so we feel that it might be possible for him to live with a very dog-savvy feline (although, as he gets comfortable in his surroundings, management of the environment to avoid playful chasing could be necessary) Murphy has come so far since his liberation from the farm - but he still has a long way to go. If you think you have the proper environment and dedication it will take to become Murphy's forever home, please contact WHS and ask to fill out an application today. Meet & greets with potential adopters and their resident dog/s will need to be arranged with and overseen by either Diamond Dog lead trainer Barb, or Murphy's primary trainer, Karen. This can be arranged directly by contacting them at diamonddogs.whs@gmailcom, or through WHS at 828-264-7865 and ask for shelter manager Christy.
