VOLUNTEER HANDBOOK (PDF)

We rely on animal lovers just like you to help us with our lifesaving programs. Each year, many of your friends and neighbors donate their time and talent to help us help the animals, and they receive tremendous personal satisfaction from doing so. We encourage you to join us and become a lifesaving volunteer!  And through our new Volunteer Rewards program, you can earn fun and whimsical rewards, meet new friends and spend time with fellow animal lovers.  Join us and see how much fun you can have helping the animals!

Joining the Volunteer Rewards Program is easy.

Just follow these 2 easy steps:

1. Click HERE to complete your Volunteer Application.
2. After you receive an acknowledgment that your application has been received, attend a volunteer orientation. You will be notified of the time and date of upcoming Volunteer Orientation sessions.

Junior Volunteers

Volunteers must be over 16 years of age to volunteer unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who also plans on becoming a volunteer. Together they must complete all of Watauga Humane Society volunteer orientations and trainings and the parent or guardian must commit to being with the minor whenever the minor is volunteering. The adult should follow the steps above. Note: Volunteers under 10 years of age and the parent or guardian will be assigned to age appropriate volunteer tasks and educational opportunities, for their safety.
