Meet Okeechobe - She Just Needs a Minute
Okeechobe might be one of the most gentle, loving dogs we've met - the crawl-inside-your-hoodie-just-to-be-closer kind of dog.
She is shy. Fearful at first. She'll cower when you first approach.
But give her 0.63 seconds, truly, and she will decide you're safe. And once she does, you'll have a best friend for life.
She keeps her kennel beautifully clean. She pulls a bit on leash, but we're fairly certain that's just nerves. It's less mischief, more uncertainty. And it's a little heartbreaking.
Okeechobe is heartworm positive and seeking a foster home. She needs a quiet space with minimal activity while she undergoes treatment. A few weeks would help. A few months would be even better. Lots of rest. Lots of reassurance.
Fostering is completely free, we provide blankets, towels, toys, and medical care. She just needs a spot and some love, which she'll return tenfold.
