Spay/Neuter Is a Positive Solution 

The Watauga Humane Society S.N.I.P.S program focuses on connecting pet families to accessible and low-cost spay/neuter options. Thanks to partnerships with clinics in Western North Carolina, we are able to offer reduced surgery costs and transportation assistance to ensure every pet has the opportunity to live a happy and healthy life!  

  

What to Know Before Signing Up 

  • Clinics are APPOINTMENT ONLY. You must confirm your appointment with our Spay/Neuter Coordinator to secure your spot and receive details about your pet's surgery.  
  • We are currently only able to offer assistance to Watauga and Ashe County residents. 
  • Pricing for the surgery and any additional services is based on a sliding scale. A quote of services will be provided depending on financial assistance qualifications.  
  • Our low-cost spay/neuter clinic partners are not located locally. Each clinic provides a driver and a temperature-controlled transportation vehicle outfitted to ensure safe and secure travel.  
  • The WHS Adoption Center is the drop off and pick up point for appointments. You will enter through our Main Entrance for both.  
  • Drop off is at 7:00am. Our team will help ensure your pet is secure in a paper-lined travel-safe crate and properly checked in.  
  • Pick up time will vary depending on the clinic partner. Our team will go over post-operative care instructions and collect payment at pick up.

Wait times for appointments can vary based on many factors including the size, species, and gender of your pet as well as travel conditions during the winter months. We also understand that transportation with other animals could be stress-inducing and may not be the right fit for your pet. In addition to the local veterinary clinics in our community, there are several low-cost specific spay/neuter clinics within a comfortable driving distance that might be a good fit for you.
