Olipop

While getting Olipop ready for adoption, we discovered that she has FeLV, better known as Feline Leukemia. Due to her young age and absence of symptoms, it is possible this is the result of residual maternal antibodies. Olipop may test be retested at 6 months of age to determine if she is truly positive.

FeLV is a virus which attacks a cat's body systems, most notably the immune system. Unfortunately, the average lifespan of cats afflicted by FeLV is drastically decreased, at roughly 2-3 years following infection. That being said, they typically lead happy, normal lives for the majority of this time period. Chef is not able to live with cats who are not FeLV+, however he can happily live alongside other pets, such as dogs, with no risk of transmission.
