Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCDs) – Ideal for donors age 70½ and older, a QCD is a direct transfer from your IRA custodian to WHS. QCDs may count toward your Required Minimum Distribution and are excluded from taxable income, making them a tax-efficient way to support animals. New for 2026: Expanded Charitable Deduction
Beginning in 2026, federal tax law allows more households to benefit from charitable giving. Under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, individuals and households may be eligible to deduct up to $2,000 in charitable contributions annually—even if they do not itemize deductions.
This new provision makes it easier for more supporters to receive a tax benefit while helping provide food, shelter, medical care, and second chances for animals in our community.
As always, donors are encouraged to consult with a tax or financial advisor to determine how charitable gifts may impact their individual tax situation.
