General FAQ

How can we contact you?

We can be reached via phone at (828) 264-7865. Please note that we are experiencing higher than normal call volumes, and make every effort to return unanswered calls within 24 hours. We also have a Contact WHS page that can help expedite your inquiry.

What are your hours of operation?

We are open Tuesday - Saturday, 12:30pm to 5:00pm for general visits and socializing with the animals. We recommend that anyone interested in adopting be prepared to spend at least an hour or more for the adoption process. Paperwork stops being processed at 4:30pm each day to give our staff time to feed and care for our animals before closing.

What is the process for adopting?

Please visit our How to Adopt page for the most detailed information on adopting a new pet! The adoption facility is open between 12:30 and 5pm, Tuesday through Saturday for walk-in visits.

What is the cost to adopt?

Adoption fees can be found on our How to Adopt page. The cost for adoption includes the cost of spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccinations, bloodwork, deworming, preventatives, 24PetWatch microchip, free brief health exam with participating veterinarians, pet supply coupons, and sample bag of Hill's Science Diet food.
