WHS August News

August 12th, 2020

As we make it through the summer, we wanted to let you know what's been going on here at WHS!

Meet Ruger! This sweet boy was recently brought to us as a stray with an injured back leg. According to sightings in our community, Ruger had been living with this injury for several weeks before finding his way to us. After a visit to our vet, Ruger received x-rays that showed us just how bad the break is. Due to the severity of his injury, Ruger will have to undergo an amputation surgery. If you are interested in helping fund Ruger's surgery, please consider making a donation to our medical emergency fund: https://wataugahumane.org/donate/mychals_fund

Another companion that has been helped by donations to Mychal’s Fund is Candle! Like Ruger, Candle was found as a stray with an obvious injury, his eye. One little girl and her mother cared for him overnight until they were able to get him to WHS. From there, we worked with our vet to ensure Candle was comfortable and received all necessary antibiotics to gain control of the major infection that had developed. When Candle was strong enough, our vet was able to safely perform surgery to remove his eye. When Candle was ready to be picked up the next day, he was already trying to play, and happy to receive all the snuggles. Candle is now happily healed and ready to find his forever home!!
