SNIPS News

August 12th, 2020

The SNIPS mask force continues to sew face masks to help our community and to raise funds for SNIPS.  As always, a huge and heartfelt thank you to The Pet Place for their support and for providing their store as the SNIPS hub for the face mask project and our SNIPS kiosk for our animal related crafts. Please continue to support them and offer your thanks for all they do for SNIPS and the animals of our community.

SNIPS masks can also be purchased at the WHS Bare Bones Boutique. Stop by, do some shopping and pick up an extra mask.

Snips also has a variety of wonderful handmade crafts on display at Boonies, a great local country store on Highway 105. They are an amazing source of fresh produce, baked goods and locally made arts and crafts. Be sure and visit Boonies and thank them for their support of SNIPS and the animals.

SNIPS is continuing its plant sale through the High Country Food Hub. The plants can be viewed and ordered each Thursday through Monday at www.highcountryfoodhub.org. and picked up at the Agriculture Extension Office on West King St. on Wednesdays 12-5:00pm. Our plants change weekly so be sure to check the site frequently.

We want to thank all of the veterinarians who participate so generously in our spay/neuter program for community animals.   When you have an opportunity, please thank the following vets who give so tirelessly of their time:  the doctors of The Animal Hospital of Boone,  Dr. Roten of The Animal Medical Center of Boone, Dr. Beckworth of The Ashe Animal Clinic, Dr. Blevins of the Animal Hospital of Ashe, and Dr. Hoyme of Blue Ridge Veterinary Clinic.

The animals who had been on our spay/neuter waitlist have been scheduled for their surgeries through the end of August. The current SNIPS waitlist now has an additional 65 pets who need to be spayed/neutered. We will continue to raise funds in a manner that is both safe for our volunteers and the public and ultimately arrange the surgeries for these animals. If you can contribute to the SNIPS spay/neuter program please look on the Watauga Humane Society website for  directions and note that your donation is to go to SNIPS. We greatly appreciate all help for the animals.
