We're Expecting!

April 8th, 2021
Spring is bringing warmer weather to the high country and kittens to Watauga Humane Society. Over the next several months, kittens will appear at the shelter in droves, often motherless and requiring round-the-clock care. These kittens will be relying on our staff and foster parents for survival.

Newborn kittens from birth to two weeks of age are exceptionally fragile. At this delicate age, it’s essential for them to stay warm and eat every 2-3 hours. Without mama around to care for them, they rely on us for everything from temperature control to those middle of the night feedings.
