Do you love working with your hands; have a keen eye for detail and are skilled in facilities and maintenance programs? Consider the position of Maintenance Technician with Watauga Humane Society. This individual will work on many projects while ensuring high standards for performance and results. The ideal candidate will safely and efficiently execute our maintenance and preventative maintenance programs while keeping accurate records daily. This position is based in Boone, NC

 

Responsibilities Include

 

  • Work the preventive maintenance (PM) schedule for all buildings and systems as assigned. Report any departure from the PM schedule.
  • Keep accurate records for maintenance and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Keep an accurate inventory of supplies needed regularly.
  • Review daily work lists with the Director of Operations at the end of the workday and ensure routine communication throughout the day.
  • Develop and improve skills in all aspects of building maintenance through participation in approved training sessions.
  • Maintain a safe work environment. Perform all work in a safe manner and follow all associated safety guidelines.
  • Assist with grounds maintenance including winter weather preparations .
  • Contribute up-to-date maintenance and repair data
  • Assist in loading and unloading various equipment and supplies.
  • Follow policies and procedures of Watauga Humane Society as set forth in the Employee Handbook
  • Other duties may be assigned that are not specifically identified within the content of the job description.
  • Maintain a professional atmosphere at all times as you will be working around the public and volunteers.
  • Professionally represent Watauga Humane Society with outside contractors

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED). Two (2) years maintenance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Construction/ carpentry experience; holder of contractor, electrical or  plumbing license is an added plus
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
