Reading for Paws

Reading for Paws is a summer program at Watauga Humane Society where children practice reading aloud while spending time with cats and kittens in our adoption center. 

Designed for rising 2nd–6th grade students, the program encourages confidence, focus, and reading fluency in a calm, encouraging environment — with a few whiskers along the way.

Sessions are held Thursdays from June 11–August 6, 2026, from 11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., with 30-minute time slots available. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

And yes, we’re ending the summer with a pizza party, because even the cats support celebrating achievements.
